Hi friends,..I will start with infomation about some famous Mauritian tropical
fruits, As many of my readers have said that this is missing on my blog, so
here is some info about some rip,sweet,colourful, healthy and juicy fruits.

As the climate is very warm and rainy for a long time fruits in Mauritius
has a very nice advantage of been one of the best quality in the world,
some of them we can get it almost in any season and any month of the year,..

Lets start with the most popular I will try to remenber the maximum ok,.....
Banana, Coconut, Papaya, Pineapple, Mango, Guyava, Lemon, Lychee, Longan, Melon,
Tamarind, Water Melon, Carambol(Star Fruit), Strawberry, Orange, Peanut,
Avocado, Grenadilla, Mandarin, Citron, Olive, Custard Apple, Grapefruit, Bilimbi and
and many many more, sorry may be I have forget some of them, So if you think that

This is Sweet but very sometime the opposite, well also know as (Averrhoa Carambola)
is very famous in Mauritius and Native to other Countries like India, Sri Lanka
and Indonesia,..specially known as Superfruits its is very good for its Vatamin C,
Bright coloured, Vivid green to Bright Yellow and very particular in Shapes(STAR).
It's best to consume a Starfruit when ripe. An unripe fruit will appear bright green,
while a ripe Starfruit will display colors of bright yellow with a light shade of green.
They also do Pickles in Mauritius, very tasty, try some when having a visit to
MAURITIUS....

Guyava (Chinese Guayava)

This particular guayava is origin from China (of course), well its really a nice
guayava type because in Mauritius we make JAM with this, yes jam made of this
Redish fruit, you boil it in hot water for about 20 mins, let boil for more
10 mins let the boiling water dry a bit, after that remove and let cool down,
Filter & squeeze all the peels and seeds with a piece of cloths,then add sugar
let cool and your sweet Guayava jam is ready...lots of people like this guayava
just natural and some like it with some salt chilli mix.....
That the same as on the photo I have taken in my friend backyard!!

This is a very Famous place in Mauritius...With a panoramic view

fromthe Light house it will surely amazed you........Situated in the
EAST part of Mauritius ALBION Village and was build in the
19's to help the incoming boats and actual big Cargo ship to
easily spot there way..Still active and its about 45-46 mts High
gives flashes of light every 10 seconds....its a British type of light
House in the Indian Ocean Island Mauritius....
Its also surrounded by some of the tropical Trees,... Plants and
Flowers, a visit is very easy because its very close to the capital
town Port Louis at about 10-11 kms from it, in french we call it a

white sand, Filao trees and coconut trees, its a puiblic beach
with lots of activities all day and night, its ideal for a camping
with friend and family, water sport is a very famous in this

MARE Plage Hotel, Constance Hotel, Beau Rivage Hotel and La
Residence Beach Hotel and many many more....surrounded with
green vegatation, sugar canefield and a nice Village with lots of

Also Know as the Delonix Regia the Flamboyant tree when its
Blossoms is announce the coming of the New Year Ends, like
its in Decembre in Mauritius, very street and location is Vivid
RED and green, you can found these trees mostly in the costal
and North part of the Island..the plant is known also as Royal
Poinciana in certain Island and country like Madagascar!!
This Flower is used as decoration in most local End of Year

Hi Friends...First Let me wish you all a HAPPY NEW 2009, Ya its after a long time that am posting here, because I was very busy working and there was too much Parties , but there is lots of new photos waiting!! But this is an OFF TOPIC post...I recently buy this MAZDA 323 ASTINA car, its a little bit old but its very Sporty....I have just replace its original rims 13" to 15" Rims and had new audio player with CD, Mp3, subwoofer and amplifier, its a full option car with popup head ligths and put some decal on it like NITROSPORT and of course my blog web address.....I wanted to share this little joy with you friends, do comment on this post I want to know if you like it or not.....and see you soon BYE

This is a very popular pond at Pamplemouses Graden,..(SSR Garden)..its the famous NENUPHAR Aquatic Plant also call the Victoria Amazonica, these plants are very special in the garden, with its large colourful blow like leaf shapes and an amazing flower like the LOTUS...will surely attract your eye...and as me you will say WOOOW after looking at it..., This plant is an annual tropical plant and grows very well during the summer season with an average temperature of 30 C, so better to have a visit in the summer..So that was a little on this amazing aquctic plant...and keep watching there is a lot of other posts on the SSR Garden coming next week....bye take care

Some other Information on this amazing creature, with its tongue they can catch an insect from 8 -10 cms distance and they have very good Eye sight. They can measure about 27 '' when they are adults. They can change there colour depending on the situation and its surounding!!

Big Lizard or Chameleon as you wish,..are very popular in Mauritius and some people use them as Pet and live freely in there garden, well they seem very dangerous but they can help you reduce Flies and Mosquitoes in your Garden (lol:), always very colourful and attractive by its bright green and yellow colour and long tail.....these lizard are a very nice attraction in such nature parks and surely humans are always a fan of these creature and of course you can see them at La Vanille Crocodile park....

Casela Bird Park... Bird park near Flic en Flac in the East coast of Black River district..very famous in the island and the Indian Ocean...the main attraction is bird, some 50 species of bird and wild animal. A new attraction is setup now and my friend Liesl Smit have try it out, the lions! For Liesl, Mauritius is nice place to live and work..The bird picture will come soon..keep on watching.:)

La Vaille Crocodile Park...Very beautiful nature park with many attractions, mostly Animals and Plants!!As the name of this Nature park, the main attraction is the Crocodile, they are from African andother Indian Ocean countries. You may also find many different species of endemic plants and many species of animal, insect and fish.

Crocodile park is also a very nice place to have a visit with Children for educational tour or just a simple visit with familly and friends, its near the famous Coastal village of Souillac and beach of GRIS GRIS in the south of the Island.

DODO..the extinct big bird of Mauritius, very famous Worldwide in History, Story and even in kids cartoon, in early days of Mauritius history the DODO was hunted because of its nice meat,as it couldn't fly and was very big it was very easy to catch...very bad that its extinct now, but we still have the statue..many artists and craftmans use the dodo as a key part of there work and product..you can see this statue of DODO at Crocodile park... :)

Another member of this Nature Park is the BIG Tortoise, Big and lazy, brown colour they are also an attraction of this park...these Tortoise can live up to 80 years and can weight app. 300 kgs, kids and adult love to have a ride on them...so this was a little on Crocodile park and these picture was taken by a friend, Liesl Smit from South Africa...

Here is a brief history of MAURITIUS ISLAND so call (Isle de France) in year 1715...The first who visit it was the Europeans then the Portuguese in about 1510 and some 70 year later it was settled by the DUTCH in I think in year 1600 and then it was named MAURITIUS after the prince Maurice of Nassau!! We call MAURITIUS in french as ILE MAURICE as the name of the prince Maurice. At that time Mauritius was a tropical forest with all the wild life and the wonderful big DODO a big bird who can't fly but was very prefered because of its nice meat!!I will try to get a nice photo of this extinct bird from the National Museum of Mauritius!
